We all know that communicating regularly with our list of followers is one of the foundation blocks of our marketing strategy, and yet....writing those damned emails is hard!
That's why I was delighted to receive this email from my friend Liz, who is a real pro when it comes to copywriting. She's running a masterclass on email marketing, and what's more its free!
Grab a place while you can. Thank me later.......
Last run of the day.
Flying down the slopes on the edge of my abilities.
Loving the feeling of speed. Then suddenly, nothing for my skis to grip.
As the side of my face made contact with the ice, I blacked out.
When I opened my eyes I saw worried faces.
"Are you ok?"
"That was an epic tumble!"
"We rescued your Oakleys. Sorry, they’re a bit cracked."
I felt like I’d been in a car crash. But there was no way I was going down the hill headfirst in a rescue toboggan. So I did what I think most twenty-somethings would do in that situation.
I got up and carried on skiing down the black run.
Probably not the most sensible decision! But it’s that kind of "I’m fine - let me get on with it!" attitude that’s helped me create the business I have today.
Plus it's always good to look back on the times you got it wrong and consider what you'd do differently (er, wear a helmet, maybe?). It means you can stop other people making the same mistakes.
On that note, there's one element of my business that I still look back on and think, "WHY didn’t I sort that one out sooner?"
And that’s my email list.
Because in 2017, when I started really focusing on sending regular emails to clients, contacts and subscribers, I suddenly created a whole new source of customers.
Email marketing was an incredibly simple thing to make happen. I just hadn’t made time to do it.
Maybe you’re in a similar boat?
It's simple for you to fix too.
For a lead generation funnel that brings you a steady flow of customers, all you need to do is:
1. Write a lead magnet,
2. Write welcome emails,
3. Get those elements set up on your website and email marketing platform (this is the one that trips lots of people up or puts them off getting started - but it’s easy to sort out),
4. Start sending emails every week or every other week.
Of course, there’s a little more to it than that:
- There’s the strategy behind choosing the right lead magnet - one that brings you customers, not tyre-kickers.
- There’s knowing what to write, and how to "be yourself" and create the right tone of voice for your business.
- There’s working out how to grow your list sustainably, so it doesn’t get smaller and smaller as people unsubscribe.
- There’s figuring out sending the right balance of sales emails and nurturing emails - so you don’t annoy your list, but you DO make sales.
All of those things trip people up and stop them creating something that would help make attracting new customers (and bringing back old ones) so much easier.
That’s why I’ve created a masterclass to cover all of these elements.
It’s called Grow with Email and it’s happening next week.
All the masterclass details are here
And because you're here, reading this email, you're getting to hear about it first!
If sorting out your email marketing has been on your to do list FOREVER, I've designed this masterclass for you.
And I'm a bit more sensible these days, so you don't have to worry about me turning up to the class with concussion and a black eye!
Looking forward to seeing you there! :-)
Liz
