Employers are reminded that 10 June 2020 is the last date for starting furlough for staff to claim a grant under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS).
On 30 June the CJRS will close to employees who haven’t been furloughed for a three-week period. This means 10 June 2020 is
the last day on which someone who has never been furloughed before can start a period of furlough and qualify for their wages to be covered by the CJRS.
Other key upcoming dates for CJRS, include:
- 12 June – HMRC will publish further guidance on the changes to the CJRS.
- 1 July – employees previously furloughed can return to work part time (with hours not working covered by the CJRS), but the number of employees covered by a claim cannot exceed certain limits.
- 31 July –the deadline to make a claim for any periods of furlough up until 30 June. This deadline applies to both employees furloughed for the first time and those previously furloughed and claimed for.
