Self-employed Income Support Scheme: what it means

On Thursday the government announced the support that would be available to the self-employed and freelancers during the Covid-19 pandemic. It is estimated that approximately two-thirds of the 5.75m self-employed will be eligible, meaning that as many as 2m may be excluded.

In addition, as we now know, the support Scheme does not cover the 1.8m people who probably consider they are self-employed but who are owner-managers of their companies, paying themselves mostly through dividends.
