Hi
The Financial Times has reported that accountancy firm KPMG has told hundreds
of its UK employees to hand in their work mobiles as part of a cost-saving drive. It is the latest attempt by KPMG to rein in costs after it informed 630 secretaries and personal assistants that around a third of them would be made redundant and said it would “encourage partners to file their own expenses to save resources”.
Bonkers.
This is in a firm where the average partner earnings still exceeds £600,000 a year. That’s £300 per hour. Not their hourly billing rate but what they are actually paid!
Now, I fully support being efficient and ‘lean’ working but the suggestion that you have your supposed highest fee earners spending their time filling in a form is absurd: the message that it sends out is that the firm does not understand value,
profit, time allocation, efficiency, accounting, or plain common sense.
It’s like small business owners doing their own bookkeeping. It makes no
commercial sense.
If you are still doing tasks in your business that you should outsource or
delegate: stop! Our team of virtual bookkeepers, through our association with Viva Lifestyle & Business, are ready and waiting to help. Just call me on 07768 350762 and I’ll help you take away one of the tasks you probably hate the most.
