In recent years the landscape for the manner in which businesses keep their books has changed out of all recognition. From simple cash books and 'one-write' systems to spreadsheets, cloud accounting and interactive data input systems have now become the go-to solutions for many small businesses.
However the uptake of these applications is variable and even some accountants are reluctant to move their clients accounts 'to the cloud' citing security issues and fearing a loss of lucrative work.
To gauge the appetite for automated bookkeeping and tax filing I am conducting a survey into the bookkeeping systems used by SMEs, both companies and unincorporated
businesses.
