I may have mentioned that HMRC's online software doesn't always get the amount of tax you owe right.
An example is employment income of £40,000, dividends of £7,000. Tax is correct at £6,200. Then add a net pension contribution of £2,000 – according to HMRC the tax goes up to £6,325!
