I was reminded this week about
Botty Rule no.16 (Sh*t happens and it always will) and a talk I gave a few years ago to a business audience about leadership.
I asked "Who has never had anything go wrong in their business?" Unsurprisingly no one put their hand up.
So for the doers (who always like to speak first) I said "What did you do when something went wrong? "Then - and this was the point of the question - I said "And what did you learn from it?
"You see
sh*t happens and it always will.You can't stop it.
And it isn't just about what you do about it but also what you learn from it. As a leader you can learn from mishaps and adjust your thinking so you are prepared for them.
What could happen that would derail your business? Are you prepared for it?
