I think pretty much everyone I know has a touchscreen smartphone except
me .
Tapping away on a phone’s screen has become commonplace and the main differences in models and brands seem to come from size, colour, shape and technology.
But BlackBerry has taken a new, or perhaps old approach…
They’ve gone back to the qwerty keyboard! Buttons, a small touchpad and a space bar!
However, will it work?
I mean, developing and giving the market what they want is an extremely beneficial part of business.
However, what Blackberry are doing is giving their existing customers what they want… a proper, no nonsense, business phone.
Perhaps it could work… perhaps BlackBerry have enough customers who want something like this to be successful, rather than playing the smartphone game? I will definitely get one.
What BlackBerry has done is recognise their strengths and weaknesses.
They realise that their strong business focused branding can’t relate
effectively to the fun, touchscreen smartphone look…
What are your businesses strengths and weaknesses? Once you know what they are, you can start moving forward.
Whether you try to do something better or go in another direction, there’s no point flogging a dead horse of an idea.
It’s worth thinking about… especially for the New Year.
Have a very happy Christmas.
