Hi ,

My friend and e-marketing guru Robert Tyson introduced me to this site called Scribd (pronounced 'skribbed') which describes itself as 'the world's largest social reading and publishing company'. Users post documents at the site, and can 'follow' each other like on other social networks.

At the time of writing, Scribd claims over 75 million readers every month and tens of millions of documents published.Useful exposure just for posting a document. And Scribd has recently emerged well from Google's latest algorithm change, suggesting that in the short term at least, it should be seeing even more traffic.

Scribd allows you to upload almost any type of document - including Word, PowerPoint and PDF - and automatically converts it to HTML5 so it can be searched by search engines.

It also has viral potential, thanks to the social aspect to the site and because when a user reads your material, they are encouraged to tell their connections via social networks including Facebook and Twitter.

Robert's top tip for traffic or list building strategy using Scribd is to upload a partial version of your opt-in report, with a message on the final page directing readers to your site to get the full version.

Scribd is best categorised as a document submission site, rather than an article submission site like Ezine Articles. Unlike Ezine Articles, when you post a document on Scribd, you are NOT allowing other people to use your content in return for accreditation; you're simply making your material available to read.

Enjoy Scribd - and don't forget to connect with me when you're there!
