Every now and then I have a coaching discovery call with someone who is just starting out in business. They'll tell me about their product or service, their
branding, business name and, if there is a physical product, how much they have invested in inventory.
My first two questions are always: 1) How much have you invested in yourself to learn how to run a business? and 2) How much have you allocated to invest in getting
customers?
Not surprisingly, the answer to both these questions is usually very little. If you invest £0 – or invest in the wrong things - you can never expect to make a return. Nothing happens in life for free.
The best investment you can ever make is to pay for coaching or a mastermind to achieve your business goals; it’s what all super successful people do. Successful people invest in themselves and their businesses, and that's why they often coach others for a fee. It's all about having a growth mindset.
If you have a fixed mindset, you'll never succeed in business. The scarcity mindset leads us to see investments as expenses and opportunities as risks, but the growth mindset teaches us to invest time and money, see opportunities, and take calculated risks. You’ll never be successful by avoiding risk and
discomfort.
And if things do go wrong, then it helps us to remember that failure is where true learning happens.
If you're not willing to invest in getting customers, you're operating from a place of scarcity. But here's the good news - you can change your mindset!
Live from a place of abundance and dare to invest
