Hi
Some lessons take time to learn; not because we aren’t willing to learn but because so-called conventional wisdom is anything but.
It took me some time to understand this. Conventional wisdom and our primal instincts don’t serve us well.
Here are some of the lessons I have learned that are serving me better:
- Work smarter not harder. Most people aren’t increasing their skill level, they are increasing the amount of time they spend at their current skill level; continuously upgrade your skills, gain new skills and focus on
skill acquisition.
- Get paid by the project and pay by the hour; find a way to get paid for outcomes and solve issues that take little time to fix. Charge for your value not your time. This requires a mindset shift as employment has programmed us to charge by the hour and trade time for money.
- Work where you are in control and work to your own schedule. Most work isn’t time critical so fit it around your life rather than the reverse. Work when you are needed and take time off when projects are completed.
- Don’t outsource your time management to others or let working long hours become a badge of honour.
- Investing in YOU is always the best investment with the highest return on investment.
- The path to financial freedom is to build assets you own such as a business, courses and content (preferably that which you can deliver online) rather than property and vanity assets. Wealth is created
through businesses that generate cash that is disconnected to hours worked.
- Trade money for time not time for money: you are going to run out of time first. Wealthy people have an abundance of time.
Let me know about the most
important life lesson you have learnt.
To your success
